Nasal Release Technique

Specialised method designed to gently realign

The Nasal Release Technique is a specialised method designed to gently realign the bones of the skull, specifically the sphenoid and palatine bones.

Practitioners of this technique undergo specialised training to perform it effectively. My training was with Cynthia Stein, MPT, and Dr. John Brimhall.

The Nasal Release Technique is also known by several other names, including endonasal technique, cranial facial release, nasal cranial release, bilateral nasal specific technique, functional cranial release, and neurocranial restructuring nasal specific technique.

The Nasal Release Technique is a gentle, effective procedure designed to support patients recovering from concussions and improve overall breathing function. This technique utilizes a specially designed balloon that is inserted into the nasal cavity to help facilitate the release of tension in the cranial and cervical structures, promoting better alignment and function.

Indications for the Nasal Release Technique

This technique may be beneficial for individuals dealing with:
✔ Concussions or head injuries
✔ Headaches, pressure in the head, and migraines
✔ Low energy, fibromyalgia, and chronic fatigue
✔ Muscle spasms, neck, and shoulder discomfort
✔ Difficulty with concentration and focus
✔ PTSD
✔ Sinusitis, sleep apnea, snoring, and other respiratory issues
✔ Tinnitus (ringing in the ears)
✔ Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI)
✔ TMJ disorders (jaw and facial pain)
✔ Whiplash syndrome
✔ Breathing difficulties, including allergies and sinus congestion

The Procedure

This technique utilizes a small finger cot attached to an inflatable device (balloon), which is carefully inserted into each of the six nasal passages (three on each side). With the aid of a hand pump, the balloon is gradually inflated.

This inflation creates a gentle outward pressure against the bones surrounding the nasal passages, facilitating adjustments to the cranial sutures, particularly the sphenoid bone. This process effectively alleviates tension within the skull by releasing any blockages in the cranial sutures. Each treatment typically involves a total of eight gentle inflations.

While some discomfort may be experienced during the procedure, it is generally not painful. Many patients report experiencing clicks and pops within the cranial bones, often followed by a profound sense of relief after their initial treatment. Our approach follows a strict protocol that incrementally increases the pressure applied throughout the series of treatments.

Eye Testing and Assessment

In conjunction with the Nasal Balloon Release Technique, it is essential to evaluate eye muscle function and neck motion, as these aspects can significantly impact recovery from concussions.

– Visual Acuity: Assessing how well the patient can see at various distances.

– Eye Tracking: Evaluating the ability of the eyes to follow moving objects smoothly, which is crucial for coordination and balance.

– Convergence and Divergence: Testing how well the eyes work together to focus on near and far objects.

– Pupillary Response: Observing how the pupils react to light, which can indicate neurological function.

Dr. Moore has personally benefited from the nasal technique and has observed significant benefits from the Nasal Release Technique, in particular -individuals dealing with post-concussion syndrome, craniofacial pain, nasal breathing challenges, and sleep disturbances.

It is essential to note that the effectiveness of this technique can be compromised if the practitioner solely targets the nasal area without considering the overall body’s functioning. For optimal results, it is crucial to address the whole spine- particularly the cervical spine before working on the sphenoid and cranial bones, as well as to manage the thoracic spine. Our approach prioritizes foundational body management, allowing us to enhance patient outcomes through the Nasal Release Technique.
