Active Release Techniques® is a real break-through in the successful treatment of soft tissue injuries because it gets to the core of the problem.

For years soft tissue injuries have been treated the same way – with ultrasound, various manual treatments, electrical stimulation and not always effective. The reason why these methods have not been as successful is that they did not get to the core of the problem. Active Release Techniques® is a real break-through in the successful treatment of soft tissue injuries – because it gets to the core of the problem. Soft tissue injuries can happen anywhere, on the job, playing sports or just normal daily activities. They can interfere with all aspects of a person’s life. Soft tissue injuries can happen over time or suddenly due to a sprain or strain but the symptoms are the same, you can have stiffness, discomfort and weakness all the way to pain, swelling and instability.

For years soft tissue injuries have been treated the same way with ultrasound, various manual treatments, electrical stimulation though not always effective. The reason why they have not been successful is that they don’t get to the core of the problem – how and why they occur. ART (Active Release Technique) is a completely different way of looking at soft tissue injuries based on research on the cellular level. This has led to some real breakthroughs on how to treat soft tissue injuries.

The reason why Active Release Technique is now so successful is that it gets to the core of the problem. The core is not inflammation as was previously thought for years, it is really hypoxia causing scar tissue that changes three areas: texture, tension and movement in the tissues. ART is about using the hands to first locate the problem and then release it. Using hands-on techniques Dr. Tammara Moore is able to feel and locate soft tissue tension, texture and movement, that otherwise would not show up on an x-ray or MRI and apply her extensive expertise in ART to solve the problem.

Dr. Moore was the first physical therapist to be trained in Active Release and has been a Master Level Active Release Technique Provider and Educator since 1997. Dr. Moore holds a Doctorate in Physical Therapy, is a Strength and Conditioning Specialist and Functional Medicine Practitioner.
